How to use the Database

  • The map database gives a quick and easy access to the primers. The location of the armed group is pointed out with a red pin. You can find an armed group by positioning the cursor over the red pin which pops up the name and the link to more information about the selected armed group. The map can be moved with a left-click, drag mouse action, and the scale can be changed with the zoom control in the upper left corner of the map.
  • The search function allows the user to search by different criteria. One can type the name of the armed group (or the abbreviation) directly in the box "search" and then choose the category "armed groups". Moreover, the search function features several key words, allowing the user to frame the query in precise terms. One key word, any combination of key words or all key words can be searched. One can narrow the search by using two or more criteria. Other criteria for searching are the type of non-state armed group, as well as the number of members and status of its armed operations.
